I took my Dad to St. Francis Hospital for a shot in his back last Tuesday to see if it would relieve
his pain and enable him to stand up straight and walk without a cane. Praise God he is now doing so for the first time in over 8 months!!!!
He picked me up Sunday Morning for Church and he looked like a new man! Please Pray that when they put the permanent pain block implant in that it will work this well or better. He says this shot has relieved about 75 to 80% of the pain.
It was soooo GREAT seeing him standing up tall and straight again! Next thing we know he'll be back on that motorcycle! :-)
Please Pray for Trammell and me as we are to be at the"Channel 7" TV Studio Thursday morning at 9:30.
Please Pray that the nurse will be here on time to care for David. Last week she was almost an hour late which made Trammell and me almost an hour late for his doctor's appointment. Thank Goodness the doctor we were seeing is a long time friend of my brother and my Dad. They were happy to work with us. Most places would have not only canceled our appointment but would have also charged us for the appointment.
Please Pray for me as I appear on the Your Carolina Show which comes on at 10:00am, (right after The Dr. Phil Show), to tell our story and to try and bring awareness for Caregivers everywhere. For all those families living through the same nightmare we have been living through for 5 & 1/2 years. For All those who are "Living Under House Arrest". We must ALL find ways to help them.
We have now been Blessed with 30 hours of nursing care from Alzheimer's Association to be used over the next 4 months. The bad thing is we have to use them 4 hours at a time. That means Trammell and I will have 7 days over the next 4 months that we can leave our home (for 4 hours)
Trammell's 19th Birthday will be July 19th. I Pray with all my heart that I can somehow make it special. I have tried every year since all this has happened but I always end up telling him next year will be better. He is sooooo sweet he always says "I know you tried Mom".
Last year really broke my heart. Bless his heart, Trammell was the one cheering me up. I sent out emails asking people to Please join us for lunch to help Celebrate with us but no one did. As a matter of fact on his 18th birthday I paid a nurse to stay with David for one hour so Trammell and I could run to eat lunch at a place 1/2 mile from the house. It was all I could afford. As we sat there and ate, watching the time, I had to keep swallowing the lump in my throat to keep from crying. I told him that this was not what I had always dreamed of for his 18th Birthday and that things would be better next year. I am still Praying that they will.
I told him a few weeks ago as we talked about how he was missing getting to go to a Prom and the fact that for him there is no Graduation, no cap and gown (his High School Diploma was sent in the mail) No beach trip with friends. None of the fun things I remember about my Senior Year. I told him I was so sorry that all his teen years ended up being such a nightmare.
Again he comforts me by saying the sweetest thing. He said, "Mom, Please don't worry about all that stuff. Going through all this has made me the man I am today."
Ever since he was a small boy he would come to me when he knew I was having a bad day and say
"It's OK Mom. I just Prayed for you." What more could a Mother ask for.
I PRAISE GOD THAT HE HAS GIVEN ME THE MOST AWESOME CHILD I COULD HAVE EVER DREAM OF RAISING! HOW TRULY BLESSED I AM!!!!!
Proverbs 22:6
Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.
